George Francis D’Elia, Jr., 67, passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2024. George was born in Jersey City, grew up in Point Pleasant Beach and lived in Old Bridge and Middletown prior to moving to Lakehurst in 2007. He graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School in 1974. He worked for Emergency Services at the Port Authority of NY and NJ. George was a parishioner of St. John’s Church in Lakehurst. He was a member of the Elks in Middletown. He loved the New York Yankees and was a little league coach in Manchester. He was an avid golfer. George was larger than life and had a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Beloved husband of Nancy D’Elia nee Peterson; Loving father of Adam D’Elia; Cherished son of Patricia (Doyle) and the late George F. D’Elia, Sr.; Loving stepfather of Tina Penrose (Jason Ackrivo) and Jamie DiRosa (Mike) and grandfather of Lillian and Juliet Ackrivo; Dear brother of Camille (Vincent) Virga, Mary, Anthony (Mary) and David (Cecilia) D’Elia. Beloved brother-in-law of Robin Emerson (Joseph). George is preceded in death by his brother, Peter J. D’Elia. Loving uncle of Anthony (Samantha), Christopher (Tara), Nicholas, Cayla and Chloe D’Elia and Jeremy and Rachel Virga. Great uncle of Anthony Michael D’Elia. George is survived by many loving uncles and cousins.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 12-2:30 PM with a service at 2:30 PM at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.
